How to Prepare for a Pool Inspection When Selling Your Home

If you’re planning to sell your San Antonio home and it has an in-ground or above-ground pool, you may be interested in getting your pool ready for your home inspection. What are the benefits of having your pool inspected? It may make the sale of your home move much more quickly and smoothly than if you didn’t have one. You are not required by any means to do any of the pre-inspections tasks below, but if you’d like to get a head start on preparing for your inspection, the team at Bryan & Bryan Inspections highly recommends you follow these guidelines.

Check Local Safety Requirements

While each county and state has its own requirements when it comes to safety guidelines for residential swimming pools, there are some general guidelines that you can check before your scheduled pool inspection. If you have a pool evaluation scheduled with us, we are more than happy to answer any questions on what the various requirements are before we arrive for your inspection.

Make Any Necessary Repairs

If you reviewed the guidelines and have found that your pool is not up to code, you can go ahead and begin making repairs before our inspectors arrive. These may include fixing any cracks in the pool deck, mending chips in the tile, and repairing electrical equipment. Be sure to check that the pump, filter, and heater are working as well.

Check All Accessories

Once you have the pool itself repaired and ready for inspection, you need to be sure that the surrounding areas, including any accessories, are in prime condition. Assess the entire pool area, such as all gates, fences, diving boards, decorative lights, and the like.
